We are focused on aiding environmental professionals, students of all majors, and concerned citizens in acquiring a systems perspective and systems tools to better understand the dynamics of complex environmental issues. Our perceptions lead us to conclude that sustainable solutions to our current environmental problems require systemic solutions.
The Systems Biology course is taught by Fred Roberts.
Fred is a resident of Lake Tahoe. He has worked in the environmental field in wetlands and forests from the San Francisco Bay Area, to Lake Tahoe, Honduras, and the Gold Coast of Australia. He has taught courses in biology, zoology, ecology, botany, and environmental studies at Lake Tahoe Community College. He also taught collaborative leadership courses and workshops at the University of
Nevada Reno as well as LTCC.
His education includes a BA in Zoology, MA in Biology, and MS in Cybernetic Systems, all from San Jose State University.
We recognize that we are all captains of the Titanic. We surge forward blindly into the fog with our state-of-the-art technology and our current knowledge, often not recognizing their limitations or the enormous complexity of the seas we navigate.
We look to acquire fitting navigation tools and an appropriate measure of humility to guide us.
